In 2015, I began work on a cartography project which sought to create a map of all of the historic water mill sites on the upper Clinton river located in South East Michigan. This project grew to include the historic country estates of the same geographic area. The final map was printed in June 2019. See below for images depicting the entire process. The map is to scale but does not take into account the shape of the planet earth, i.e. although the map includes several townships, it does not account for the fact that the western border of Michigan townships (and generally all townships east of the Mississippi river) are not exactly a full section (i.e. 640 acres). Generally all six sections on a township's western border are modified to account for the shape of the planet Earth. Prints of the map are available to purchase for $100 each + $10 shipping. They are 36" x 36" with a viewable area being 34" x 34". Please contact me by email to order a print.
